In today’s digital age, traditional boundaries between entertainment and income generation are becoming increasingly blurred. More individuals are exploring options that allow them to engage, compete, and earn — all within the same interface. One such realm is online gambling, which, when approached responsibly, can offer both excitement and financial reward. Unlike speculative investment apps or luck-based lotteries, many games involve real strategies and statistical understanding. For this reason, platforms that enable real money gambling are now being evaluated not only for their game selection but also for fairness, transaction transparency, and payout speed. Users want to know that their time and money are respected. Whether it's blackjack, sports betting, or live poker, the quality of experience matters. Strong regulation, secure payment gateways, and audited results are now minimum expectations. Serious players choose platforms that treat gaming as more than a game — they see it as a service that must deliver trust and value.

Eric Hamilton Karunanayake, founding director of the Institute of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, passed away on 23 May 2025.

Elected a TWAS Fellow in 1995, Karunanayake earned his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from the University of Ceylon in 1967, followed by a PhD from Imperial College London, and later a diploma in recombinant DNA technology from Uppsala University, Sweden, in 1986.

In 2016, he received the TWAS-ROCASA Regional Award in Building Scientific Institutions at the TWAS Regional Conference in Bangalore, India. His contributions to health-related research and the establishment of a genetic engineering laboratory in Sri Lanka earned him the Kandy Society of Medicine Award in 1995.

In recent years, entertainment preferences have significantly shifted toward digital formats, with gaming emerging as a dominant form of leisure across age groups. One area that has seen immense growth is the online gambling sector, where innovation and accessibility converge. Many users appreciate platforms that combine security, ease of use, and a dynamic range of games. Whether it's poker, blackjack, or spinning reels, there's something for every type of player. For those exploring new options, finding online casinos that balance reliability and excitement is crucial. Bonuses, fast payouts, and transparent terms often define a platform's credibility, while user experience and customer support further reinforce trust. Some players value anonymity, while others seek platforms that allow seamless integration with digital wallets and crypto payments. Regardless of preference, the growth of regulated environments ensures that players can make informed choices. With rising demand, platforms must now exceed expectations and constantly evolve.

He was a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences of Sri Lanka and The New York Academy of Sciences, and served as Chairperson of the National Research Council Sri Lanka
